In 1915, the Beiyang government established the Anhui Model Tea Plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce in Pingli Village, Qimen South Township, with Lu Nan serving as the director.
In 1932, it was renamed as Anhui Provincial Tea Industry Improvement Field; In 1934, it was reorganized as Qimen Tea Industry Improvement Plant, with Wu Juenong and Hu Haochuan serving as plant managers. This was the earliest state-owned tea production enterprise and research institution in China.
In 1950, the Qimen Tea Industry Improvement Station was reorganized and divided into Qimen Refined Tea Factory, Likou Tea Factory, and Qimen Experimental Tea Factory, marking a new era of development for state-owned tea enterprises in Qimen County after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
In 2022, Qimen Black Tea Group wrote a new chapter in the development of state-owned enterprises in the new era, returning to the hometown of Qimen Black Tea - Pingli Town, Qimen County. This is not only a geographical shift, but also a tribute to, and continuation of, traditional tea making techniques and spirit.
